Summer seems to come so quickly here in Southeastern North Carolina. My honeysuckle is already blooming and the azaleas are starting to fade.
I've had this early Summer tablescape in my head for a couple of years.
When Kristi of French Creek Farmhouse invited me to participate in her
Spring Into Summer Home Tour, I thought it was perfect opportunity to make
that happen!
I hope you will visit the other bloggers participating and see the amazing early Summer ideas they are sharing. I have them all linked at the end of this post.
If you're visiting from the Tour, welcome! I'm happy to have you here!
Here's how I put this blue and white Summer tablescape together.
Inspiration
I usually have one special item that inspires a table.
A dear friend of mine gave me this sheet printed with blue roses when moved from her home to her daughter's. She gave me a box of her things she didn't need anymore and there were some treasures in there!
The second I saw this sheet in that box, I knew it was destined to be a tablecloth.
So that blue rose sheet was my starting point, my inspiration this time. Now I had my main color for the table.
Add Layers of Table Linens
I only added two layers to keep this table simple. I recently found this little beauty
The tassels got me right away!
Plus it's waterproof! But it still has a very nice smooth feel to the fabric.
Then it hit me that it was the perfect color for this soft textured blue rose sheet. Then it all came together.
I think the stripes and roses are adorable together! But that striped tasseled tablecloth could have totally stood on its own! It does come in larger sizes. I just ordered a small one.
Add Plates
You may have seen my hand painted Dollar Tree chargers and clear plates from my Spring table, but I am back to using my every day white plates for this table. I like the simple white for early Summer.
Add Vintage Napkins
Vintage napkins are something I always keep an eye out for when thrifting. I have also found a lot of super cute vintage napkin sets on Etsy that I'm linking here. I went through my little stash and found these sweet vintage embroidered napkins.
I thought about going with some darker blue napkins I had, but I liked the way the little embroidered blue flowers worked with the tablecloth. The white napkins also kept the look of the table itself lighter and airier for early Summer.
Add Flatware
I love mixing vintage flatware patterns! Mine is a mixture of thrifted sets, my Grandma's sets, and my parents' set from when they got married in the 60's.
Mixing in mismatched vintage flatware gives a table a fun little unexpected element. It keeps it less formal and more interesting!
I digress, but y'all look at those cute tassels!
Add Vintage Glassware
I used two sets of vintage glasses here. I'm also always on the lookout for vintage glassware when I'm thrifting.
Add Candles
I also added some little pillar candles in vintage milk glass bowls. Every table deserves some candles!
Add a Rustic Element
I always like to add a rustic element to a table. So this time for the middle of the table, I made a centerpiece of live white geranium plants in a wood dough bowl.

And I think that's everything! This table was super easy to put together. Vintage and new items really worked well together. The key here was finding pieces that had similar colors, but different patterns and textures.
