Welcome back to our One Room Challenge project! We are joining in with the challenge hosted by Linda of Calling It Home to makeover one of our boy's rooms into a cool science themed room in just 6 weeks. Now maybe that wouldn't be a "challenge" to some folks, but I will freely admit I have the worst time management skills of anyone I know.
These past two weeks have been a project juggling act for us. We currently have four ongoing projects in various stages, and this project ball got dropped a couple of times. So this week I've been trying to nail down exactly what our son wants. He has recently come out of a difficult 3 month illness and is finally getting back to normal. And so am I, after being house-bound all that time. Anyway, I'm hoping this will be a fresh start for us!
So my original idea for his science-based room was vintage laboratory/study, like lots of wood, dark green walls, and a desk and shelves covered in beakers and microscopes and artifacts and ongoing experiments. And my boy loves antiques and vintage almost as much as his mama does so he was totally on board. Until we started shopping online for rugs and bedding and he decided he liked bright and bold colors. Now everything I had planned has been scrapped and we put together this color palette that has completely taken its place.
What we end up with will be determined by the bedding and rug we end up with. We've been shopping locally and online and so far we haven't found the right ones.
We are also planning a new desk and shelving unit on one wall, something similar to this, but with brackets for the shelves instead.
